UK consumers are expected to spend £13.8bn online this Christmas, up 42% on last year, according to ecommerce industry body the IMRG.
The organisation says that consumer confidence in online sales and security, coupled with increased levels of broadband penetration… is greater than ever, leading to as many as 27m shoppers buying Christmas presents on the web.
Amazon UK MD and IMRG member Brian McBride said,
“The proliferation of broadband in UK homes is certainly allowing a greater proportion of the public to shop online”
“This means that every age group, across both sexes, is now well represented in the share of internet retailing spend,”
he said.
However, some retailers will still fail to provide customers with easy online journeys, risking losing business if they don’t effectively optimise their sites, according to online user experience specialist Foviance…
